Celebrating World Book Day.KS2 enjoyed a day with Norfolk author, Debra Edwards, on Wednesday 26th February 2020, an early precursor to World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. Her strong sense of humour and the way she involved pupils in acting out a story during the assembly delighted the audience. In fact one Year 6 pupil commented “It was the best assembly that I have ever attended.”
The workshops that each year group took part in were also enthralling ; Year 6 gained a real sense of how to craft a villain of a story so s/he is exciting for the reader and inspired the class to plan and write a story for the children in Reception who we read to on Wednesday afternoons.

'We have had two fabulous visits from Debra and on both occasions the children have been inspired with their own story telling and writing. She is an extremely motivational speaker and the staff and children were left crying with laughter at her stories about events in her life that led her to create her wonderful stories of grublins and tooth fairies. We hope that we will benefit from many more visits from this truly inspirational author.' Sara Matthews, English Leader, Attleborough Primary School.

'Debbie is a captivating speaker who had our Key Stage 2 children hanging on her every word as she recounted to them her experiences as an author, her inspirations for writing and what it takes to go from ideas to published books. Debbie is a must for anyone wanting to excite and enthuse children to read as well as to pick up their pens and write creatively.' Anita Warren, Assistant Headteacher
'I love superheroes and having the chance to invent our own one with its own special super power was awesome!' Alex Year 3
'I especially liked coming up with the back story for my super villain character, Debbie helped my group to think in more detail about it, making sure our idea was reasonable, she gave us good advice.' Jessica Year 6
Brisley Primary School
'The children thoroughly enjoyed Debbie’s visit. They responded well to her imaginative and engaging author talk and were very keen to use Debbie’s props to construct their own heroes and super heroes in the workshop.'
'Debbie was an inspiration to the children.'
From children:
'The story when she was acting out being a superhero was really funny. They had masks and fairy wings and it was very good!'
'It was really good – she made us laugh a lot which gets our attention. It was entertaining and the books will be very good to educate us in our writing skill.'
