About Me!

Debra J Edwards

About Me!
I am the third of eight children and grew up in Brixton, South London. At school I enjoyed history and English lessons the most. I went to Roehampton Instutute to gain my teaching degree and spent almost twenty years in the teaching profession. I became a full-time writer in 2012, moving to Norfolk two years later where I still live in a disused chalk quarry.

Things I like doing:

Picture
Reading
I am passionate about reading and still
read every day, usually at bedtime. My favourite authors include J R R Tolkein (Lord of the Rings), Angie Sage (Magyk) and Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments). My study is full of wonderful books; adventures just waiting to happen.

Travelling
I really dislike flying, but love to travel. So far, I have visited over 60 countries. I love tasting the different foods, exploring historical sites and enjoying the different cutural experiences. Australia, India and Peru are next on my travel list.

Railways
I love trains. I even have my own trainset. I have travelled by train in China, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Austria. I aim to travel by train across India next.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I am a massive Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. So much so that I have used some quotes from the series in my new YA book, The Iron City. One of my favourite episodes is the musical, 'Once more with feeling'.
